British police have confirmed that prosecutors have authorised two additional criminal charges against Russell Brand, including one count of rpe and one count of sxu*l ssult. The Metropolitan Police said the new charges relate to allegations made by two separate women and date back to 2009.

The Crown Prosecution Service approved the new charges following an ongoing investigation that began after media reports published in 2023. Brand, 50, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20, 2026, in connection with the additional allegations.

Brand has already pleaded not guilty to five earlier charges, which include two counts of rpe, two counts of sxul ssult, and one count of indc*nt ssult. Those allegations involve four women and are said to relate to incidents that allegedly took place between 1999 and 2005 in London and Bournemouth. A trial for the original charges is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court in June 2026.

Police said the complainants involved in the case are receiving support from specially trained officers. Brand has previously denied any non consensual conduct and has said that while he has acknowledged past personal issues, he rejects the allegations made against him.

The investigation followed reporting by UK media outlets and a television documentary. As with all criminal proceedings, the charges remain allegations, and Brand is entitled to a fair trial.
