Singer songwriter Barry Manilow has shared that he has been diagnosed with a cncerus spot on his lung and will undergo surgery later this month. The 82 year old made the announcement in a statement to fans, explaining that the issue was discovered during medical tests following a prolonged bout of bronchitis.

Manilow said his doctor ordered an MRI as a precaution after weeks of illness. The scan revealed a spot on his left lung that requires surgical removal. He noted that doctors do not believe the condition has spread and that further tests are being carried out to confirm the diagnosis.

According to Manilow, the situation was detected early and treatment will not include chmo or rdiation. He is scheduled to have surgery in late December and has been advised to take about a month to recover.

As a result, Manilow has decided to reschedule his January arena concerts. He apologized to fans for the inconvenience and said he looks forward to returning to the stage once he has fully recovered.

The Grammy winning artist, known for hits such as Mandy, Copacabana, and Could It Be Magic, added a message encouraging people to seek medical advice if they notice even minor symptoms. He said he remains optimistic and is focused on rest and recovery before resuming live performances.
