‘Enola Holmes 3’ Shoot Disrupted in Malta as Food Poisoning Hits Netflix Cast and Crew

Production of the highly anticipated Enola Holmes 3, a Netflix spin-off of the Sherlock Holmes saga, has been thrown into disarray during overseas filming in Malta. Cast and crew, including star Millie Bobby Brown, were reportedly struck by a bout of food poisoning, forcing an unexpected halt to shooting.

According to The Sun, the production had recently moved from Shepperton Studios in the UK to Malta for its final filming schedule when the incident occurred. Suspected catering issues led to multiple team members falling ill, prompting an immediate suspension of work.

“It’s a nightmare because these productions run to such tight schedules,” a source told the outlet. “There were a fair few affected and it meant everything had to grind to a halt until they got better.”

Fortunately, the illness was not serious, and all affected individuals have recovered. However, the interruption has placed added pressure on the team to meet deadlines for a planned late 2025 Netflix release.

Millie Bobby Brown returns as the brilliant and rebellious Enola Holmes, with Henry Cavill reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes. Himesh Patel, Helena Bonham Carter, Louis Partridge, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster also return to their iconic roles, ensuring continuity in the much-loved franchise.

Netflix began filming the third installment earlier this year, with scenes split between London and Malta. While plot details remain under wraps, reports suggest a darker tone for this sequel, with Enola “flung into a nest of vipers” in her latest investigation.

The Enola Holmes series has been a massive success for Netflix, with the original film reaching over 76 million households in its first month. Fans have praised the franchise for its strong female lead, clever storytelling, and high production value.

In a previous statement, Brown expressed her excitement about reprising the role:

"Enola holds a special place in my heart – she's strong, fearless, intelligent, and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!"

Despite the Malta setback, production is expected to resume shortly. Netflix remains committed to delivering the next thrilling chapter in Enola’s journey.
