Marvel Rivals Season 5 has arrived with a major update that places two iconic X Men heroes at the center of the action. NetEase Games has launched a new season titled Love is a Battlefield, highlighted by the introduction of Gambit and the upcoming addition of Rogue. The update draws inspiration from the beloved X Men animated series, giving the season a nostalgic theme that long time fans are already celebrating.
The animated style trailer sets the tone with a romance focused storyline around Gambit and Rogue. Their wedding was disrupted by the Timestream Entanglement, and Season 5 follows the couple as they navigate a world shaped by the Elders of the Universe. Creative director Guangyun Chen explained that the new season explores how their bond holds up when tested in a cosmic setting.
Gambit leads the update as the first new hero of Season 5. He arrives as a Strategist with a playstyle centered on kinetic energy attacks, card throwing abilities, and fast close range combat. His kit allows him to heal allies, remove negative effects, and apply anti heal to opponents. Rogue will join the game during the mid season patch, where her power absorbing abilities are expected to expand team strategies even further.
Season 5 adds more than new heroes. The update introduces an 18 vs 18 Conquest mode on a new map called Grand Garden, which will go live on November 27. A social space called Times Square is also coming to the game, giving up to 100 players a place to gather without combat between matches.
NetEase is preparing a one year anniversary celebration for Marvel Rivals that begins later this month. Players who log in during the event will receive 2500 Units and a free Legendary Jeff the Land Shark costume designed around a school theme. Additional content such as accessories, balance changes, and anniversary themed cosmetics will be released throughout the season.
Season 4 previously added Daredevil and Angela to the roster, and Season 5 continues the pace of regular content updates. With Gambit now available and Rogue on the horizon, Marvel Rivals is set for one of its most anticipated seasons yet.
