Malcolm in the Middle Returns With Revival Trailer, Premiere Date Set for April 10
Malcolm in the Middle is officially back.
A first teaser trailer released this week confirms that the beloved 2000s sitcom will return in the form of a limited revival titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, set to premiere April 10 on Hulu. The project reunites much of the original cast and picks up nearly two decades after the show ended.
The revival centers on Malcolm, now grown up and played again by Frankie Muniz, who has spent years distancing himself from his famously chaotic family. In the teaser, Malcolm insists his life has improved since staying away, only to be pulled back in when his parents demand he attend their 40th wedding anniversary celebration.
Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek return as Hal and Lois, reigniting the dynamic that defined the original series. The revival also brings back several of Malcolm’s brothers, while introducing new characters, including Malcolm’s daughter and his girlfriend.
The original Malcolm in the Middle aired on Fox from 2000 to 2006, running seven seasons and earning critical praise for its sharp writing and unconventional family humor. All episodes remain popular on streaming platforms, helping fuel interest in the reboot.
Creator Linwood Boomer returns as writer and executive producer, with Ken Kwapis directing all four episodes. The revival is produced by Disney Television Studios and New Regency.
The teaser leans heavily into nostalgia while acknowledging how time has changed the characters. Malcolm and his siblings are now adults, some with families of their own, yet the familiar tension with Hal and Lois remains firmly intact.
The four-episode event arrives as streaming platforms continue to revive well-known titles, betting that long-time fans and new viewers alike are drawn to familiar stories. For Malcolm in the Middle, the revival promises a return to the same sharp humor, now filtered through adulthood, parenthood, and unresolved family bonds.
