Disney Casts Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in Live-Action Tangled
Walt Disney Pictures has officially cast Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim in the lead roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled, the studio’s popular 2010 animated musical.
Croft, an Australian actress, will portray Rapunzel, the spirited young woman with magically long hair who has spent her life confined to a tower. Manheim will play Flynn Rider, the charming and self-serving thief whose unexpected partnership with Rapunzel sets her journey into motion. The pairing marks Disney’s latest attempt to blend emerging talent with established fan familiarity.
The film will be directed by Michael Gracey, known for his experience with large-scale musical storytelling. The screenplay has been written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, with production handled by longtime Disney collaborator Kristin Burr. As with the original animated feature, music is expected to play a central role in the live-action version.
The original Tangled was a commercial and cultural success, earning nearly $600 million worldwide and helping define a modern era of Disney animation. It also generated multiple spin-offs, including a television series and short films, cementing Rapunzel as one of the studio’s most recognizable modern princesses.
Disney executives are said to have taken a deliberate approach to casting, aware of the expectations that come with reimagining a beloved animated property. While no release date has been announced, production is moving forward, and additional casting details, including the role of the villain Mother Gothel, are expected to be revealed at a later stage.
For Croft and Manheim, the film represents a significant career moment, placing both actors at the center of a high-profile global release that could reshape their standing within the industry.
