Ethan Browne Cause of Death Confirmed After Passing at 52

Cause of Death Revealed for Jackson Browne’s Son Ethan Browne Two Months After His Passing

The cause of death for Ethan Browne, the eldest son of legendary singer songwriter Jackson Browne, has been officially confirmed.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said Ethan died from the combined effects of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and lidocaine. His manner of death was ruled accidental. Ethan passed away on November 25, 2025, at the age of 52.

Jackson Browne announced his son’s death the following day in a public statement, asking for privacy as the family grieved. Ethan was found unresponsive in his home, with no additional details shared at the time.

Born in 1973, Ethan grew up in Los Angeles and later built a career in entertainment and fashion. He appeared in films including Raising Helen and worked as a model for major designers. Music remained part of his life as well, as he co founded Spinside Records and released music through the label.

Friends and collaborators described Ethan as a natural presence in front of the camera. Producer Mark Ronson once wrote that Ethan carried both the sharp features of his late mother and the soulful eyes of his father.

Ethan’s mother, Phyllis Major, died when he was a toddler. Jackson Browne often spoke about how fatherhood shaped him during the early years of his career, including in a Rolling Stone interview where Ethan appeared with him on the magazine’s cover as an infant.

In later interviews, Jackson praised his son not only as an artist but as a devoted father. In 2022, he described Ethan as a great man who made him proud through his work, his family life, and his character.

Ethan Browne is survived by his children, his father Jackson Browne, and his younger brother Ryan.
