Trinity Rodman Supports Boyfriend Ben Shelton at Wimbledon as He Clinches Round 3 Spot in Just 69 Seconds After Overnight Delay
Trinity Rodman Cheers On Ben Shelton at Wimbledon as He Closes Out Match in Just 69 Seconds
Professional soccer star Trinity Rodman made a quiet but notable appearance at Wimbledon this week, showing her support for American tennis player Ben Shelton during his second-round match against Rinky Hijikata.
Rodman, 22, who plays as a forward for the U.S. Women’s National Team and is the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, was seated in Shelton’s player box on July 3. The couple’s relationship became public in March 2025, when Rodman shared a photo of them on social media with the caption “mine.” She has since attended multiple tournaments alongside Shelton, including one earlier this year in Munich.
Shelton’s second-round match was dramatically paused due to poor lighting on Thursday night, with play halted at 21:29 BST just as the 10th seed was preparing to serve for the win. The decision caused visible frustration for Shelton, who had just missed three match points and questioned whether play should be suspended before the start of the third set.
Tournament officials defended the call, with Wimbledon director Jamie Baker stating it had become “extremely dark.”
But Shelton didn’t let the delay affect his momentum. When the match resumed under bright afternoon sun on Friday, the 22-year-old wasted no time, winning in just 69 seconds. He fired three consecutive aces and closed the match with an unreturned second serve, sealing a 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 victory.
“I was hoping to hit a few groundstrokes,” Shelton joked with the crowd. “Might have to go to the practice courts.”
Reflecting on the win and the unusual split-day finish, he added: “You’ve got to adjust on the fly at Wimbledon—it’s part of what makes tennis fun.”
Shelton, a two-time Grand Slam semifinalist, now advances to the third round, with fans eager to see how far he can go in the tournament.
Rodman, currently recovering from a back injury and not competing in the NWSL season, appeared calm and attentive throughout the match. Her continued presence at Shelton’s matches has drawn attention from both the sports and entertainment worlds, with many praising the couple’s mutual support amid their demanding careers.
As Shelton moves deeper into the Wimbledon draw, all eyes will remain on both his performance—and who’s sitting courtside to cheer him on.
