A senior Russian military official has ded after a car bmb exploded in southern Moscow, with investigators examining possible motives, including foreign involvement.

A senior Russian general has d*ed after an explosive device detonated beneath a vehicle in southern Moscow, according to Russian authorities.

Russia’s Investigative Committee said Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, 56, was seriously injured when a bmb planted under a parked car exploded early Monday morning. He later ded in hospital from his injuries.

Sarvarov served as head of the armed forces’ operational training directorate. Investigators said the explosion occurred in a residential parking area, where forensic teams later examined a heavily damaged vehicle.

Authorities have opened a criminal case into m*rder and the illegal handling of explosives. Officials said several lines of inquiry are being pursued, including the possible involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. Ukraine has not commented, and as a matter of policy does not publicly confirm or deny such operations.

Sarvarov had a long military career, with reported involvement in conflicts in the North Caucasus during the 1990s and early 2000s, as well as planning roles during Russian operations in Syria in 2015 and 2016.

The Kremlin confirmed that President Vladimir Putin was informed shortly after the incident. Since Russia launched its full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, several senior military figures have been targeted inside Russia, often through explosive devices.
