Popular YouTube creator Jack Doherty was taken into custody early Saturday morning in Miami Beach after police reported finding illegal substances during a street encounter in the city’s busy entertainment district.

According to Miami Beach Police, officers were patrolling the 700 block of Washington Avenue when they saw Doherty standing in the middle of the road while recording video content. Officers said his actions created a safety risk for approaching traffic and for the people accompanying him.

Police stated that Doherty ignored repeated commands to step out of the roadway. The arrest report notes that when officers warned him he would be detained, he replied that he would move once he finished his recording.

Officers searched him after taking him into custody and reported finding a small amount of cannabis and an orange pill consistent with a Schedule II amphetamine. Doherty was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of twenty grams or less of marijuana and resisting an officer without violence.

Court records show prosecutors formally filed the case later that afternoon. A Miami-Dade County judge is expected to oversee the upcoming hearings. It remains unclear whether Doherty has obtained legal representation.

Doherty has built a large online following with stunt based and prank driven videos across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. Hours before the arrest, he had posted videos from a yacht and livestreamed part of his night out in Miami.
