Ricki Lake Gets Candid About Cosmetic Surgery: “I’m Fully Transparent”
Ricki Lake, beloved TV icon and former talk show host, is embracing aging on her own terms—and she’s not afraid to be honest about it. During a June 12 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 56-year-old star revealed she recently underwent a lower face and neck lift, proudly calling it “the best facelift I’ve ever seen.”
Lake, best known for her role in Hairspray and her eponymous talk show, attributed her decision to undergo surgery to changes in her appearance following a dramatic 40-pound weight loss. “I lost a lot of weight and I had this thing hanging,” she said, gesturing to her chin. “And I had it fixed.”
She credited Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Allen Foulad for the results, calling him a “genius” and revealing that she has already recommended him to several friends. Cohen echoed her enthusiasm, saying, “It looks so good,” and even joked about heading to Los Angeles for his own procedure.
Lake’s refreshingly open attitude toward cosmetic procedures is part of a larger message: challenging the stigma that still surrounds plastic surgery, especially for women. “I love that I can talk about it. I’m fully transparent, always have been,” she said. “I don’t want there to be any stigma.”
Her openness on the subject isn’t new. Back in 2020, Lake made headlines for shaving her head after silently suffering for years with hair loss. She documented the moment publicly, later explaining that frequent coloring and wearing hairpieces had caused physical and emotional discomfort.
Her recent facelift coincides with a health and lifestyle transformation that began in October 2023. Lake and her husband, Ross Burningham, committed to losing weight together—achieving results without pharmaceutical aids. “Together we have each lost 30+ lbs,” she wrote on Instagram in February 2024. “We did this without relying on pharmaceuticals.”
Lake followed a strict keto diet, practiced intermittent fasting, and exercised daily—often hiking in a weighted vest and attending Pilates classes four times a week. She emphasized her desire to avoid medications like Ozempic, stating, “There’s nothing wrong with those drugs... but I did not want to be reliant on a drug if I could help it.”
To support her journey, Lake used health tools like a glucose monitor and an Oura ring to track sleep and reduce stress—crediting those habits for her ongoing success.
In an era where celebrity transformations are often cloaked in secrecy or filtered through unrealistic beauty standards, Ricki Lake’s transparency offers a refreshing contrast. Her story is one of personal empowerment, health consciousness, and authenticity—and fans are applauding her for it.
