Keanu Reeves is preparing for his next major role as filming for his upcoming sci fi thriller Shiver moves toward a February 2026 start in the Dominican Republic. The project brings together Reeves and director Tim Miller, a filmmaker known for his sharp visual style and action driven storytelling. The script is based on a story created by writer Ian Schorr.
Shiver centers on a smuggler who becomes trapped in a time loop after a job goes wrong in the Caribbean Sea. Betrayed by those he trusted, he awakens surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries and sharks lurking nearby. Forced to relive his final moments again and again, the character must uncover the truth behind the betrayal and find a path out of the cycle before it consumes him.
Reeves has kept a steady pace of diverse roles in recent years. He recently appeared as Gabriel in the comedy Good Fortune and reprised his iconic John Wick persona in Ballerina. He also voiced Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. His upcoming slate includes the dark comedy Outcome directed by Jonah Hill and The Entertainment System Is Down, a satire featuring Kirsten Dunst and Daniel Brühl.
Director Tim Miller brings extensive experience in both live action and animation. His work includes the hit film Deadpool, the anthology series Love, Death and Robots and the animated project Secret Level for Prime Video. His partnership with Reeves positions Shiver as a potential standout in the sci fi genre.
The Dominican Republic continues to grow as a preferred location for large scale productions thanks to its cinematic landscapes and favorable filming conditions. Recent projects shot in the country include Road House, The Killer, The Lost City and Arthur the King.
With anticipation building, Shiver is shaping up to be a blend of intense action, high concept storytelling and the kind of grounded performance that has defined Reeves throughout his career.
