Sebastian Stan is poised to make a move into Gotham City, with reports indicating the Oscar nominated actor is in talks to join Robert Pattinson in The Batman Part II.
The sequel, directed by Matt Reeves, continues to build an increasingly high profile cast as production plans take shape. While Stan’s role has not been confirmed, sources say it remains unclear whether he would portray an ally or adversary to Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne. Any speculation about specific characters is, for now, unconfirmed.
Stan brings extensive experience from the superhero genre, having spent more than a decade portraying Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, across multiple Marvel films and series. His potential casting follows the recent addition of Scarlett Johansson, further strengthening the sequel’s ensemble.
Returning cast members are expected to include Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan is also widely expected to appear again following his brief introduction as the Joker in the first film.
The Batman Part II is scheduled to begin filming next spring, with an intended theatrical release in October 2027. The original film, released in 2022, earned more than 770 million dollars worldwide and was praised for its grounded tone and noir influenced take on the iconic DC character.
Reeves has described the sequel’s development as a deliberate and carefully protected process, emphasizing the importance of surpassing the creative bar set by the first installment. The film exists outside the core DC cinematic reboot but is still being produced under the DC Studios banner.
Stan’s recent work includes critically acclaimed performances in The Apprentice and A Different Man, as well as appearances in major franchise films. If finalized, his involvement would mark another significant crossover from the Marvel universe into DC’s darker, character driven Batman saga.
DC Studios has not commented publicly on the reported casting discussions.
