Dolly Parton marked her 80th birthday with the same energy, optimism, and creativity that have defined her legendary career for more than six decades.

Speaking in a recent interview, the country music icon said she feels she is “just getting started” and has no plans to step away from music. Parton explained that age only becomes limiting when a person allows it to, adding that she has no time to think about getting old.

She also celebrated the milestone with a newly released version of her 1977 classic Light of a Clear Blue Morning. The updated recording features Lainey Wilson, Queen Latifah, Reba McEntire, and Miley Cyrus, with piano by producer David Foster and harmonies from The Christ Church Choir.

Originally written during a period of personal renewal, the song has long been known for its message of hope. Parton said the new version is meant to carry that same spirit to a new generation.

Proceeds from the song and its music video will benefit pediatric cancer research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, continuing Parton’s long tradition of philanthropy.

Despite recently cancelling several December concerts in Las Vegas due to health concerns, Parton reassured fans with humor and confidence, saying she remains strong and motivated.

In recognition of her influence, Tennessee officially declared January 19 as Dolly Parton Day. Governor Bill Lee praised her for shaping the state’s cultural identity and for her generosity beyond music.

Now entering her ninth decade, Parton says she is open to whatever comes next, promising to give her best to every new chapter. For fans around the world, her message remains clear. Dolly Parton is not slowing down.
