Singer Ella expressed deep sorrow after learning of the death of respected music producer and songwriter Yuan Wei-Jen, known in the industry as “Little Fat Teacher.” She said she was overwhelmed with emotion and broke down in tears upon hearing the news.
Ella shared that Yuan held an extremely important place in her life and career. She recalled buying his albums in her early years and receiving his care, encouragement, and professional guidance during her journey as a singer. His influence, she said, remained with her long after their last meeting.
During her current concert tour, a transition video includes footage from a singing competition she once joined, where Yuan served as a judge. Ella said every time she hears his familiar voice giving feedback in the video, she feels a strong sense of longing and reflection on how much he meant to her growth as an artist.
In recent years, Yuan had been focusing on recovery from illness and had little contact with friends in the music world. Ella said that although they were no longer able to meet, she always kept him in her thoughts and silently wished him strength and peace.
She offered a heartfelt farewell message, saying she hoped Yuan could rest in peace and be free from physical suffering. She added that she believed his spirit would continue doing what he loved beyond this life and that people should always remember his contributions to music.
Ella also said that if Yuan’s family decides to hold a memorial service, she hopes to attend and personally say goodbye. The news of his passing was first shared publicly through a social media post by music executive Chen Zi-Hong, who said he was not yet aware of any plans for a farewell ceremony.
Yuan Wei-Jen was widely respected in Taiwan’s music industry for discovering and nurturing young talent and for shaping the careers of many performers through his work as a producer and judge.
