Los Angeles: Support for Eric Dane’s family continues to grow after Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and his wife Ashley Levinson donated $27,000 to a GoFundMe established following the actor’s death.

Dane, best known for his roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, died on February 19 at age 53 after a public battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS.

Levinson, who directed Dane as Cal Jacobs in the HBO drama, paid tribute to the late actor in a statement.

“Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift,” Levinson said, adding that Dane’s family remains in their prayers.

Fund created for Dane’s daughters

Friends of the actor launched the GoFundMe campaign to help support Dane’s daughters, Billie Beatrice Dane, 15, and Georgia Geraldine Dane, 14, according to the fundraiser description.

The page notes that contributions will help provide stability for the girls after the disease progressed faster than many expected. As of the latest update, the campaign has raised more than $170,000.

Dane is also survived by actress Rebecca Gayheart, who helped care for him following his diagnosis.

Advocacy during final year

During the last year of his life, Dane became an outspoken advocate for ALS awareness. He worked with the I Am ALS organization and traveled to Washington, D.C., where he met with lawmakers to push for greater attention to the rare neurodegenerative disease.

“I want to ring every bell,” Dane said during one appearance, expressing his determination to continue fighting the illness while supporting the broader ALS community.

Even as his condition worsened, Dane returned to acting and continued using his platform to highlight the challenges faced by patients.

Industry tributes continue

Dane’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues across television and film. Levinson’s donation marks one of the most significant public contributions so far as supporters rally around the actor’s family.

The fundraiser remains active as friends and fans continue contributing to support Dane’s daughters’ future needs.
