LOS ANGELES: Kim Kardashian has told a court she fears her long pursuit of a legal career could be damaged by what she calls false public accusations from former boyfriend Ray J.
In a newly filed declaration tied to her defamation lawsuit, the SKIMS founder said the singer’s claims about alleged racketeering by the Kardashian family could create complications as she works toward becoming a licensed attorney in California.
Kardashian stressed in the filing that she has never been charged with any crime and has had no contact with authorities regarding alleged misconduct. She said the statements attributed to Ray J have “no basis” and risk being taken seriously during the State Bar’s character review process.
“I’m worried that I would need to address these entirely false accusations and that they might be taken seriously,” Kardashian said in the declaration.
Legal path under scrutiny
The reality star has spent several years pursuing a nontraditional legal apprenticeship route in California. The process requires candidates to undergo a detailed moral character evaluation before admission to the bar.
According to the filing, Kardashian fears the public nature of the allegations could complicate that review even if no formal charges exist.
Her legal team, joined by Kris Jenner as co plaintiff, previously sued Ray J for defamation after he publicly suggested the family could face federal racketeering charges.
