New starter Pokémon introduced

The reveal confirmed three new first partner Pokémon for the franchise’s 10th generation:

  • Browt, a Grass type Bean Chick Pokémon

  • Pombon, a Fire type Puppy Pokémon

  • Gecqua, a Water type Gecko Pokémon

Players will begin their journey by choosing one of the three, a tradition that dates back to the original Pokémon games.

The trailer also previewed two specially themed Pikachu variants, nicknamed Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, though their gameplay roles have not yet been detailed.

Open world focus for next generation

Early footage showed a large tropical style region with forests, oceans and volcanic terrain, signaling another major open world push for the long running series.

Developers indicated players will explore the environment alongside Pokémon that have adapted to the region’s unique climate and ecosystems.

Broader accessibility update

The company also confirmed that Brazilian Portuguese will be supported starting with Winds and Waves, expanding language accessibility for global players.

So, the reveal marks the first official look at Pokémon’s 10th generation, a milestone moment for one of gaming’s most valuable franchises as Nintendo prepares its next hardware cycle.

More gameplay details and features are expected in future updates ahead of the 2027 launch window.
