YouTube has officially entered the year-end recap race with the launch of its first-ever personalized YouTube Recap for 2025. The new feature gives users a customized look back at their viewing habits, favorite creators, top interests, and most watched content throughout the year.
The Recap is being rolled out starting in North America and will expand globally in phases. Users can access it directly from the YouTube homepage or through the “You” tab on both mobile and desktop devices.
Unlike traditional watch history summaries, YouTube Recap presents insights through a series of visually engaging cards. These highlight top channels, frequently watched categories, changing interests over time, and even assign users a viewing personality based on content preferences.
For music lovers, Recap also integrates listening data, showcasing top artists, songs, genres, and podcasts. Users who engage heavily with music can further explore their data through the YouTube Music app, which continues to offer its own detailed yearly music recap.
YouTube says the feature was refined through extensive testing and user feedback to ensure it reflects real viewing behavior rather than just raw data. The goal, according to the platform, is to allow users to relive moments that defined their year while making it easy to save and share these insights across social media.
The launch places YouTube in direct competition with Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay, signaling a growing trend among platforms to turn data into shareable personal storytelling experiences.
