Key Points

  • Apple is expected to shrink the Dynamic Island cutout by about 35 percent on iPhone 18 Pro models.

  • A new A20 Pro chip built on 2nm technology is rumored to power the devices.

  • The redesign is likely limited to Pro models, with standard versions launching later.

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series could bring one of the most noticeable design changes since the introduction of the Dynamic Island, according to new industry leaks.

The Dynamic Island, first introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro, is expected to be significantly reduced in size on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Reports from well known leakers indicate the cutout width may shrink by roughly 35 percent, creating a cleaner and more immersive display.

Analysts believe the change may be possible by placing key Face ID components beneath the screen rather than keeping them visible in the cutout. While this does not fully remove the Dynamic Island, it represents a major visual update compared to recent models.

In addition to display changes, the iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to debut Apple’s first A20 Pro processor built using 2 nanometer manufacturing technology. This upgrade is expected to improve speed, battery efficiency and overall performance.

Camera upgrades are also being discussed. One rear camera may include a mechanical iris system, allowing users to control how much light enters the lens. This would help deliver more natural depth of field and better exposure in challenging lighting conditions.

Leaks also suggest Apple may alter its launch strategy. While the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to arrive in September 2026, base models such as the iPhone 18 and the next iPhone Air could be delayed until early 2027.

Pricing rumors indicate the iPhone 18 Pro could start at around 1,34,900 Indian rupees, which converts to approximately 1,630 US dollars. The iPhone 18 Pro Max may reach about 1,805 US dollars, depending on storage options and final configurations.

If confirmed, these changes would position the iPhone 18 Pro as Apple’s most visually distinct upgrade in years, combining hardware innovation with a refreshed front design.
