Fujairah, UAE: As the sun sets over the emirate’s coastline, crowds are expected to gather once again at designated public spaces where the traditional Ramadan iftar cannon will mark the daily end of fasting during Ramadan 2026.

The General Command of Fujairah Police confirmed that preparations have been completed for the ceremonial firing, with the primary cannon location set at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, one of the emirate’s most prominent religious landmarks. Authorities said additional cannon points have also been arranged across Fujairah to allow wider community participation in the longstanding tradition.

The Ramadan cannon, historically used to signal the exact moment of iftar before modern timekeeping, remains a symbolic part of Gulf cultural heritage. Today, it continues to draw families, tourists, and worshippers who gather each evening to witness the firing as part of communal Ramadan celebrations.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Hafeiti, Acting Head of the Media and Public Relations Department at Fujairah Police, said the selected locations were chosen to ensure accessibility for residents across the emirate while maintaining public safety. Security and crowd-management arrangements have been coordinated with relevant authorities, and visitors are advised to follow safety guidelines when attending the gatherings.

Officials emphasized that the continuation of the cannon ceremony reflects the UAE’s commitment to preserving Ramadan traditions that strengthen social unity and shared cultural identity. The daily firing will continue throughout the holy month, providing a visible reminder of the moment Muslims break their fast at sunset.
