Key Points

  • Bam Adebayo scored 83 points in Miami Heat’s 150–129 win over Washington Wizards

  • The performance surpassed Kobe Bryant’s famous 81-point game from 2006

  • Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point record from 1962 remains the highest in NBA history

Miami: In one of the most extraordinary scoring performances in modern basketball, Bam Adebayo delivered an 83-point masterpiece as the Miami Heat defeated the Washington Wizards 150–129.

The historic performance immediately placed Adebayo among the greatest single-game scorers in the history of the National Basketball Association, surpassing the legendary Kobe Bryant, who scored 81 points for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2006.

Only Wilt Chamberlain, who famously scored 100 points in 1962, now stands ahead of Adebayo on the all-time single-game scoring list.

Record-Breaking Free Throw Performance

Adebayo’s historic night was powered by an unprecedented number of free throws.

He finished the game with:

  • 83 points

  • 20-of-43 shooting from the field

  • 7-of-22 from three-point range

  • 36-of-43 from the free throw line

The 36 made free throws set a new NBA single-game record, surpassing the previous mark of 28 shared by Wilt Chamberlain and Adrian Dantley.

Quarter-by-Quarter Explosion

The scoring run began immediately at Kaseya Center in Miami, where fans quickly realized they were witnessing something special.

Adebayo scored:

Quarter | Points
Q1 | 31
Q2 | 12 (43 at halftime)
Q3 | 19 (62 total)
Q4 | 21 (83 total)

By halftime he had already surpassed his previous career high of 41 points, and by the fourth quarter the arena crowd rose to its feet during nearly every possession.

Passing Kobe Bryant on the All-Time List

For two decades, Kobe Bryant’s 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006 stood as the highest scoring performance of the modern NBA era.

Adebayo’s 83 points now places him second on the all-time scoring list, a milestone few players have even approached.

Reaction Across the NBA

The performance triggered immediate reaction across the basketball world.

Several current and former players praised the Miami star’s performance, while fans flooded social media with highlights from the historic night.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra allowed Adebayo to remain on the floor deep into the fourth quarter as the milestone approached.

At one point, the Wizards defense attempted double and triple teams, but Adebayo continued drawing fouls and converting from the line.

Miami Heat’s Season Momentum

The victory pushed Miami to 37–29 on the season, extending the team’s winning streak to six games.

The Heat were missing several key players but still dominated offensively as Adebayo delivered a performance that will likely be replayed for decades.
