Actress Christy Carlson Romano told fans she is preparing for additional medical testing after receiving positive results from a recent cancer screening, sharing the emotional update in a video message posted on social media.
“My husband’s results came back completely negative. Mine did not come back negative,” Romano said, explaining that her next step will be undergoing a PET scan to determine the nature and severity of the findings. She added that she is currently working with insurance providers to ensure the scan is covered.
Romano, 41, said her decision to undergo screening was influenced by her family history, noting that both of her parents battled cancer, while her grandmother died from the disease. The actress said the recent death of actor James Van Der Beek also motivated her to prioritize testing.
“This is a very vulnerable time for me,” Romano said, adding that she is trying to stay focused on her work, including an upcoming memoir and film projects, while awaiting further medical results.
The update comes roughly a year after Romano survived a life-threatening accident during a clay shooting outing, when she was struck in the face by a fragment. She previously said the incident changed her outlook on life and reinforced the importance of appreciating family and health.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the test results, Romano said she is maintaining a positive outlook and relying on faith as she prepares for the next phase of medical evaluation. “It’s time to have a strong sense of faith and know that it’s in God’s hands,” she told followers, thanking supporters for their encouragement.
