Kim Kardashian Reveals Brain Aneurysm Diagnosis

Kim Kardashian revealed doctors detected a small brain aneurysm during routine imaging, raising awareness about a condition that is often silent but can become serious if it ruptures.

Los Angeles: Reality star Kim Kardashian has revealed she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, a discovery that has sparked fresh public attention on a condition many people do not realize they have.

The 45 year old shared the update in a teaser for the upcoming season of her family’s reality series, showing footage of her undergoing an MRI scan that led to the finding.

“There’s, like, a little aneurysm,” Kardashian said in the clip, describing the unexpected medical news.

What doctors have confirmed so far

Details about the size, type, or location of the aneurysm have not been publicly disclosed. In many cases, small aneurysms are discovered incidentally during scans performed for unrelated reasons, and not all require immediate treatment.

A brain aneurysm occurs when a weakened section of a blood vessel wall bulges outward. While many remain stable for years, a rupture can cause life threatening bleeding in the brain.

Medical specialists say risk depends heavily on size and location. Aneurysms smaller than 7 millimeters generally carry a lower rupture risk and are often monitored through periodic imaging.

Who is most at risk

Experts note that cerebral aneurysms are more common in women than men, particularly after menopause when protective estrogen levels decline. Other major risk factors include smoking, high blood pressure, and family history.

According to neurologists, people with two first degree relatives who have experienced a ruptured aneurysm face a significantly higher lifetime risk.

Lifestyle factors can also play a role. Smoking weakens blood vessel walls, while long term high blood pressure increases strain on arteries, both of which can contribute to aneurysm formation.

Symptoms are often silent

Most unruptured aneurysms cause no symptoms and are found by accident. When warning signs do appear, they may include vision problems, eye pain, neck stiffness, or headaches depending on the aneurysm’s location.

A ruptured aneurysm typically causes what doctors describe as a thunderclap headache, often called the worst headache of a person’s life, and requires emergency treatment.

Treatment depends on risk level

Management varies case by case. Many small aneurysms are monitored with regular scans and blood pressure control. Higher risk cases may require surgical clipping or a minimally invasive endovascular coiling procedure to prevent rupture.

Kardashian has not publicly shared whether doctors recommended intervention or monitoring.

Her disclosure comes as incidental detection of aneurysms is becoming more common with the wider use of advanced imaging, prompting renewed focus on awareness and early evaluation of neurological symptoms.
