Barcelona booked their place in the Copa del Rey round of 16 with a controlled but hard fought 2–0 victory over CD Guadalajara, sealed by late goals from Andreas Christensen and Marcus Rashford.
The match, played at the Pedro Escartín stadium, began 30 minutes late due to organizational issues related to a newly installed temporary stand. Once underway, Barcelona dominated possession but found it difficult to break down a disciplined Guadalajara defense.
The home side remained compact for much of the contest and even created a few moments of concern for the visitors after halftime. Barcelona increased their tempo in the second half, with Frenkie de Jong playing a key role in midfield.
The breakthrough arrived in the 76th minute when Christensen rose to meet a cross from De Jong, guiding a header into the net to finally break the deadlock. Guadalajara pushed for an equalizer but were unable to convert their chances.
In stoppage time, Rashford put the result beyond doubt, finishing a swift counter attack following an assist from Lamine Yamal. The goal capped a professional performance that ensured Barcelona avoided a Cup upset.
While not a dominant display, the win allowed Barcelona to safely progress and maintain momentum as they continue their domestic campaign.
