Kawhi Leonard made an immediate impact in his return from a left knee contusion, scoring 24 points to help the Los Angeles Clippers defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 112-104 on Thursday night.

Leonard had missed the previous three games but showed no lingering effects, playing limited minutes while leading a balanced Clippers attack. Los Angeles built a commanding lead through three quarters before withstanding multiple late pushes from the Lakers.

The Clippers surged ahead midway through the third quarter, stretching their advantage to as many as 26 points behind strong interior play and efficient shooting. However, the Lakers responded with a sustained rally, trimming the deficit to just two points in the fourth quarter.

With momentum shifting, James Harden delivered a key three pointer to stop the run, followed by timely baskets from Ivica Zubac and John Collins to restore breathing room. A successful coaching challenge also played a critical role, swinging possession and free throws back in the Clippers’ favor.

The Lakers continued to fight, closing the gap to four points in the final minutes, but a reverse dunk from Zubac and a clutch three from Collins sealed the outcome.

Luka Doncic led all scorers with 32 points while also recording 11 rebounds and eight assists. LeBron James finished with 23 points after a quiet first half, though the Lakers fell short despite multiple comeback attempts.

For the Clippers, Zubac posted a dominant double double with 18 points and 19 rebounds, while Harden added 18 points and 10 assists. Seven Clippers finished in double figures, highlighting the team’s depth.

The victory marked the Clippers’ 14th win in their last 17 games, continuing a strong midseason surge. The Lakers, meanwhile, slipped further in the Western Conference standings as they prepare for a challenging road stretch ahead.
