Broncos Rule Out J.K. Dobbins for AFC Championship Game

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins will not play in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game as he continues recovering from foot surgery, leaving his potential return dependent on a Super Bowl appearance.

The Denver Broncos will be without running back J.K. Dobbins once again, as the team has ruled him out for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.

Dobbins has not appeared in a game since Week 10, when he suffered a significant left foot injury that required surgery. While he was able to return to practice on a limited basis this week, team officials determined he is not yet ready for game action with a Super Bowl berth on the line.

Throughout the week, Dobbins participated in individual drills and light team work, fueling some optimism about a possible return. However, the Broncos ultimately chose to prioritize his long-term recovery rather than risk a setback in such a high-stakes matchup.

In his absence, Denver will rely on a committee approach in the backfield. RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Tyler Badie are expected to split running back duties as the Broncos aim to control the ground game and support quarterback Jarrett Stidham.

Sources close to the situation have indicated that the most realistic scenario for Dobbins to return this season would be if Denver advances to the Super Bowl. If the Broncos defeat New England, Dobbins could potentially suit up for Super Bowl LX, scheduled for February 8 in Santa Clara, California.

Dobbins had previously expressed confidence that he could make it back during the postseason, but medical evaluations have remained cautious. The Broncos’ medical staff continues to monitor his recovery closely as the team pushes toward a potential championship appearance.
