Girona FC will look to extend their winning run when they face Real Oviedo away at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium in a crucial La Liga encounter this weekend.

Speaking ahead of the match, Girona coach Míchel Sánchez said his side must maintain the same intensity and belief shown in recent performances. He described the game as important but not decisive, urging his players to focus on repeating the positive energy that has fueled their recent rise in form.

“The feeling in the group has been very good,” Míchel said. “What we need in Oviedo is the same confidence and commitment we have shown in our last matches.”

Girona have been boosted by the return of several key players. Axel Witsel, Abel Ruiz and Cristhian Stuani have all recovered from injuries and are available for selection. Reserve team players Arango and Lass have also been included in the traveling squad to strengthen depth for the demanding away fixture.

Despite playing on the road, Míchel praised his team’s ability to compete away from home, noting that recent results have shown growing maturity and resilience.

Real Oviedo enter the match under heavy pressure at the bottom of the league standings. They have collected just 13 points from 21 matches and have struggled badly in attack, scoring only 11 goals so far this season. Their home form has also been weak, with only eight points earned at the Carlos Tartiere.

Historically, the two sides have met 18 times, sharing five wins each with seven draws. Their most recent encounter earlier this season ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw, their first La Liga meeting in years.

Girona currently sit mid-table and are pushing toward the top half after winning four of their last six matches. Victories over Mallorca, Osasuna and Espanyol have lifted confidence within the squad.

Team news suggests Real Oviedo may face late fitness tests for Rahim Alhassane and Ovie Ejaria, while Eric Bailly is expected to return from injury. Girona welcome back Arnau Martinez and Lancinet Kourouma from suspension, though several players remain sidelined.

With momentum on their side, Girona will be aiming to secure another three points and register a fourth consecutive victory, while Real Oviedo hope to spark a revival in front of their home supporters.
