Pakistan and New Zealand strengthened their positions in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup standings after registering convincing victories in Tuesday’s matches.

Pakistan posted a competitive total of 190/9 against the United States in Colombo, powered by an aggressive 73 from Sahibzada Farhan and a steady 46 from Babar Azam. Late hitting from Shadab Khan added quick runs, helping the team set a challenging target despite losing wickets toward the end of the innings.

In response, the United States began positively with a strong opening partnership but struggled to maintain momentum as Pakistan’s bowlers struck at crucial intervals. Shadab Khan delivered a decisive spell, while Usman Tariq removed key middle-order batters to halt the chase. The USA eventually fell short, handing Pakistan a 32-run victory and their second consecutive win of the tournament.

Earlier in the day, New Zealand delivered a dominant batting performance against the United Arab Emirates in Chennai. Chasing a modest target, the Black Caps completed the run chase without losing a wicket, sealing a comprehensive 10-wicket victory and also recording their second win in the competition.

With both teams maintaining winning momentum, the results strengthened Pakistan and New Zealand’s prospects of advancing from the group stage as the T20 World Cup competition intensifies.
