The US Department of Justice has released one of the largest document disclosures in its history related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, making public roughly 3 million pages of records, along with 180,000 images and 2,000 videos.

Officials said the material includes prison records, psychological evaluations, and investigative files connected to Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of assisting in the trafficking of underage girls. The release follows a federal law signed by President Donald Trump requiring the disclosure of Epstein-related files.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the release marked the end of a lengthy review process designed to balance transparency with legal protections for victims. However, Democrats and advocacy groups questioned why millions of additional pages identified as potentially relevant were not made public.

The documents contain extensive correspondence between Epstein and well-known figures. Emails reference Britain’s Prince Andrew and his former wife Sarah Ferguson, as well as business leaders such as Richard Branson and former UK official Peter Mandelson. None of the released communications establish criminal wrongdoing by those named.

President Trump is mentioned repeatedly in public tip submissions included in the files. The Justice Department stated that many of those claims were unverified and described some allegations against Trump as false and politically motivated. Trump has denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes and has not been charged.

The release also revealed emails exchanged between Epstein and Elon Musk in 2012 and 2013 discussing possible travel and social plans. Musk responded publicly that he never visited Epstein’s island or attended any parties and said the emails could be misinterpreted. He reiterated his support for prosecuting those responsible for exploiting minors.

Separate documents appeared to contain draft emails attributed to Epstein involving Bill Gates. A Gates spokesperson rejected the allegations as completely untrue and said they reflected Epstein’s frustration rather than any misconduct.

Victims’ advocates raised concerns that some newly released records exposed identities or personal details of survivors. Attorney Gloria Allred said certain names and images were still visible despite redactions, warning that the damage could not be undone once files were downloaded. The Justice Department said it is continuing to add further redactions where necessary.

The scale of the disclosure has renewed scrutiny of Epstein’s network and of the government’s handling of the case. While officials insist the review process is complete, lawmakers have signaled that further investigations and possible court-ordered releases may follow.
