Two United States Navy vessels collided in the Caribbean Sea during a routine replenishment-at-sea operation, resulting in minor injuries to two personnel, officials confirmed.
According to US Southern Command, the guided missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG-103) and the fast combat support ship USNS Supply (T-AOE-6) made contact while transferring supplies at sea. Replenishment missions, which require ships to sail side by side for extended periods, are considered routine but complex naval operations that demand precise coordination.
Authorities said two service members reported minor injuries and remain in stable condition. Neither individual required hospital transport, and both vessels continued sailing safely after the incident.
Military officials confirmed that the cause of the collision is under investigation. The USS Truxtun had recently arrived in the region as part of ongoing US naval operations in and around the Caribbean, where several warships are currently deployed to support security and counter-narcotics missions.
Naval collisions are relatively rare, though recent years have seen occasional operational incidents during deployments in high-tempo maritime environments. Officials emphasized that the current situation did not significantly disrupt operations and that further details will be released following the investigation.
